Hey everyone,

This is the first post for our new blog, and we are so excited about starting it! Basically, we both decided to stop writing on our old blogs – even though we really didn’t even write on them frequently anyway – because we have realized that our marriage is now our ministry; the two have us have become one, so our two blogs are now becoming one!

Since we were married almost 6 months ago, God has taken us on a journey individually and as a couple. We are realizing that this first year of marriage involves many choices and changes. The first choice that is rocking our world is this: are we going to follow the path of the American dream, or are we going to follow the narrow way.

Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7: 13-14

We realize, if we follow this, that our earthly life is going to be hard; there will be few on this road, but we will continue to follow it. This could mean so many things in our life and in our marriage, but hopefully as we follow God’s path He will began to give us more clarity and guidance as we go.

So what does this mean for us?

Here is a quote written by an early Christian, in The Shepard of Hermes (140 AD), that we desperately want to live by:

“Acquire no more here (on earth) than what is absolutely necessary. Instead of fields, buy for yourselves people in distress in accordance with your means.”

This is huge for us! We really want to live this out! When a couple is first married, it’s easy to start mapping out a plan for their future. We tend to think about getting better jobs, bigger houses, savings accounts, and more stuff, but that outlook is being shaken in our lives. God is beginning to show us that this world is truly temporary, and everything we have here will pass away… Seriously.

So we want to live for the betterment of God’s Kingdom and His People, because it will not pass away. To acquire no more here than what is absolutely necessary builds God’s Kingdom and not ours. There are so many people in distress in this world and we want to help them with our means. Whether it be the poor, the needy, the orphaned, the widowed, or the oppressed, we are here to be the hands and feet of Christ – in America and globally.

We don’t know what this means completely in our lives, but we know that our dreams have changed. We didn’t get married to live a more comfortable life, but we got married to strengthen each other in a more set apart life.

Here is what we know and are hopeful of… God is at work!

Following HIS Leading,

Ty & Megan
